Step back into the sounds of the season with an afternoon of 18th-century Christmas music performed by soprano Laura Heydt and musician Kaylan Stevenson. Heydt has performed throughout the United States and Europe, including numerous Lafayette Bicentennial events, while Stevenson is a classically trained pianist and baroque flautist who performs with Colonial Williamsburg.
For this special holiday concert, Stevenson will perform on both piano and baroque flute as the pair brings the music of the colonial era to life. Their previous program together featured popular music of the colonial period ranging from traditional Scots and English tunes to works by Mozart, Gluck and other 18th-century composers.
Following the concert, stay for a Meet the Artists conversation and audience Q&A with Heydt and Stevenson, offering a closer look at the music, instruments and traditions behind the performance.
